Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Dies in Plane Crash, PM Modi and Amit Shah Condole

New Delhi: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar lost his life in a tragic plane crash near Baramati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to get detailed information about the accident.

According to officials, PM Modi also conveyed his condolences on social media platform X, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy. I pray that the bereaved families find strength and courage during this difficult time.”

PM Modi further praised Ajit Pawar, saying, “He was a leader closely connected to the people and grassroots. Known for his hard work, he was always at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His administrative acumen and passion for empowering the poor and needy were remarkable. His sudden demise is a shock and a great loss. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and countless supporters.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over the loss, calling it a deeply painful incident. He said, “Ajit Pawar’s dedication to the welfare of every section of Maharashtra’s society over the past three and a half decades is beyond words. Our discussions on the welfare of Maharashtra’s people were always extensive. His death is a personal loss to me and the NDA family.”

In his message on X, Amit Shah added, “I offer my deepest sympathies to the Pawar family. The entire NDA stands firmly with the grieving family during this time of sorrow. May God grant peace to the departed soul.”

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati to attend a public meeting on Wednesday when the plane crashed around 9 AM during landing near Baramati airport. Reports indicate the aircraft lost control on landing and caught fire. Tragically, no one aboard survived the accident.

State government officials have updated the Prime Minister and Home Minister about the crash and the ongoing situation. Amit Shah has also left for Baramati to oversee arrangements and offer support.
