Mumbai, August 8: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed all government departments to expedite infrastructure projects under the ₹34,732 crore development plan for the upcoming Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027. He emphasized that any delays will not be tolerated.
During a review meeting in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis urged officials to abandon procrastination and ensure the timely completion of all planned projects. He also stressed the importance of transparency and quality in the execution of these projects.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the current progress, he highlighted the need to enhance the pace of work and improve coordination among departments. A follow-up review meeting is scheduled for next month, where tangible and qualitative progress must be demonstrated.
The Chief Minister instructed the Nashik Municipal Commissioner to promptly fill potholes and complete ongoing road construction projects. He stated that contractors failing to meet deadlines should face strict penalties. The Maharashtra Gas Company has been directed to collaborate with the Nashik Municipal Corporation to complete pending gas connection work without causing inconvenience to citizens.
CM Fadnavis emphasized prioritizing the completion of the Nashik Ring Road, the development of Sadhu Gram, upgrading railway stations, deploying 4,500 special state transport (ST) buses, and establishing a large-scale parking network for an estimated 12 crore pilgrims.
Under the Digital Kumbh framework, he has mandated the incorporation of modern technology, including an AI assistant (Kumbhdoot), digital twin modeling, smart parking management, facial recognition systems for locating missing persons, and an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) for real-time crowd and security management.
To ensure a clean, green, and plastic-free event, thousands of temporary toilets, waste bins, changing rooms, and a large number of sanitation workers will be deployed.
The Chief Minister announced that thousands of youths will receive training in tourism, hospitality, healthcare, and disaster management through a skill development program to boost employment during this major event.
Fadnavis has set a firm deadline of March 2027 for completing land acquisition, constructing the ring road, developing Sadhu Gram, and providing essential civic amenities, ensuring that everything is fully operational by April 2027.
He called for complete coordination among the central and state governments, Indian Railways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and local administrative bodies.
