Mumbai, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The operation by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) continued for a second day, with raids taking place across five different locations in the state. Authorities are questioning several individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
During the probe, officials uncovered an international WhatsApp group that reportedly includes members from various countries, including Pakistan and several Gulf nations.
Earlier, ATS interrogated a teacher from Rajapur in Ratnagiri district for several hours before releasing him. The inquiry focused on a WhatsApp group that is believed to have members from diverse backgrounds.
Reports indicate that individuals associated with religious organizations may also be part of this group, which has been used for discussions on religious topics. The ATS suspects a connection between this WhatsApp group and the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen, although concrete evidence to confirm this link has yet to surface.
The ATS is committed to its investigation, focusing on gathering information about the group’s members, their activities, and potential connections. Further actions will be determined once the investigation reaches completion.
Previously, on Monday, the ATS had conducted a lengthy interrogation of the teacher in Rajapur, who was later released as the inquiry into the WhatsApp group, with its international membership, continued.
