Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Urges Government to Address Medical Facility Shortages in Sangamner

Mumbai, March 18: Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar has directed the state government to urgently address the shortage of medical equipment in Sangamner, located in the Ahilyanagar district. He has also requested a response from the government in the assembly.

The issue of inadequate medical testing facilities in Sangamner, particularly the severe lack of MRI and CT scan machines, was raised in the assembly. Members expressed deep concern over the difficulties faced by citizens. Due to the unavailability of these machines in government facilities, residents are forced to travel long distances to private hospitals or larger cities for basic tests.

Taking a firm stance, Speaker Narvekar expressed his frustration over the delays in rectifying such critical deficiencies in the public health infrastructure. He noted that despite previous discussions, no concrete solutions or data had been presented regarding this issue. He stated, β€œThe government must take immediate cognizance of the situation in Sangamner.”

He further instructed the administration to compile and present data on the overall shortage of MRI and CT scan machines across the state before the current session concludes, with special emphasis on the situation in Sangamner.

Issuing a stern warning to officials, Speaker Narvekar insisted that the directives of the presiding officer must be fully adhered to. He cautioned that any official who believes they are not obliged to follow these instructions would face strict action.

The Speaker clarified that the government is expected to present responses to pending ‘attention motions’ on the assembly floor. He warned that if these responses are not submitted by the end of the next working day, actions for breach of privilege could be initiated against the Chief Secretary.

He reiterated that the state government should provide a detailed statement regarding the shortage of MRI and CT scan machines in Sangamner and present comprehensive data for the entire state before the session ends. He warned that failure to respond in a timely manner could result in privilege actions against senior officials.
