Madhya Pradesh to Connect 26,000 Villages Under Dairy Development Scheme: CM Mohan Yadav

Bhopal, April 24: The Madhya Pradesh government is focusing on livestock and milk production to enhance prosperity in rural areas. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced plans to connect 26,000 villages under the Dairy Development Scheme, aiming for a daily milk collection target of 5.2 million kilograms.

During the second meeting of the state-level operational committee of the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation, CM Yadav emphasized that activities related to milk production significantly contribute to increasing farmers’ incomes. To double farmers’ incomes, the state government is particularly promoting dairy activities during the Farmer Welfare Year. Support from the National Dairy Development Board has led to increased milk collection and better prices for farmers.

The initiative encourages women’s participation in dairy committees. A detailed action plan is being developed to expand and strengthen dairy cooperative coverage, modernize new dairy processing and product manufacturing, and digitize the dairy value chain for transparency and enhanced sales of dairy products.

CM Yadav also stated that the experience of the National Dairy Development Board should benefit both urban and rural levels. To improve sales of milk and dairy products, branding enhancement and new packaging designs will be implemented to expand product reach. He urged farmers to innovate in dairy production and various dairy products. There is also a need to familiarize farmers and the youth of the state with new dairy technology.

Programs will be organized at the district level to honor exemplary livestock farmers, hold exhibitions of milch animals, and disseminate information related to dairy. The meeting chaired by CM Yadav revealed that after signing contracts with the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation and dairy unions, 1,752 new dairy cooperative societies were formed in 2025-26, and 701 inactive dairy societies were revitalized.

Currently, the state is collecting 967,000 kilograms of milk daily, with the establishment of 153 new bulk milk coolers. The sale of milk and dairy products on credit has been discontinued. A mobile app for milk collection is being launched, allowing suppliers to receive immediate information on milk quantity, quality, and pricing.
