
Bhopal, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move aimed at improving water management and sanitation in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government has officially renamed the Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit (MPJNM) to the Madhya Pradesh Jal aur Swachhta Nigam (MP-Vasco).
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav chaired the 26th board meeting of the MP Jal Nigam Maryadit at the Samatva Bhavan, where he approved the proposal to restructure the corporation under its new name. This change reflects the government’s commitment to set new goals in water development and cleanliness management across the state.
During the meeting, Yadav also endorsed the board’s report for the financial year 2023-24 and approved the unaudited annual accounts for 2024-25. He authorized the Managing Director of the MP Jal Nigam to represent the corporation in a project company formed to develop a 60-megawatt grid-connected wind energy project under captive mode. Additionally, the board approved holding 26 percent equity shares in a dematerialized form for this project.
The Chief Minister confirmed the transfer of equity shares to new officials of the MP Jal Nigam and approved a budget estimate of 57 crore rupees for the current financial year 2026-27. He also reappointed Sumit Bose as an independent director on the board.
Furthermore, Yadav proposed to increase the tender approval limit for the Managing Director of the MP Jal Nigam from 5 crore to 25 crore rupees, aligning with the project’s implementation and execution methodology.
