Macron and Zelensky Discuss Continued Support for Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict
French President Macron pledges unwavering support for Ukraine in talks with President Zelensky, emphasizing military and humanitarian aid.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : French President Emmanuel Macron recently engaged in discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming France’s commitment to support Ukraine in its quest for peace. Macron stated that Russia is entrenched on the frontlines and is attempting to escalate tensions. He assured that France stands firmly with Ukraine in its defense efforts and pursuit of lasting peace.
In a post on the social media platform X, Macron wrote, “Last night, I spoke again with President Volodymyr Zelensky and assured him that France will stand strong with Ukraine and its people. Russia has chosen to exacerbate the situation amid difficulties on the frontlines. It is crucial that we all work together to provide Ukraine with the necessary aid and resources to protect its citizens and essential infrastructure.”
Macron emphasized that France would continue to support Ukraine in achieving a robust and sustainable peace. He reiterated France’s responsibility to remain alongside Ukraine during these challenging times.
President Zelensky highlighted the importance of his conversation with Macron, expressing gratitude for France’s efforts to find solutions to Russia’s escalating aggression. He noted that during their meeting, Russia launched another drone attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in Lutsk, resulting in a power outage in the city. Zelensky lamented that such relentless attacks have become increasingly common.
Zelensky pointed out that Russia has ignored a proposal from U.S. President Biden, which called for a ceasefire and an end to attacks on energy infrastructure. Additionally, he mentioned that Russia is exploiting issues with the Starlink service to further disrupt the daily lives of ordinary citizens by targeting essential resources.
Zelensky discussed various strategies to confront these challenges with Macron, particularly emphasizing the new aid packages aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air force this month. He noted that efforts are also being accelerated to enhance Europe’s anti-ballistic defense system, with the goal of having the “Freya” system operational by the end of the year.
He expressed gratitude to President Macron for approving all necessary licenses related to arms production, stressing the importance of implementing these plans swiftly.
