LPG Cylinder Fire in Nabi Karim Leaves Four Injured

New Delhi, June 4: A fire broke out from an LPG cylinder in a home located in the Nabi Karim area of New Delhi on Thursday morning, injuring four individuals. All the victims were promptly admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, the control room received a call at approximately 9:29 AM regarding the fire at House Number A-88 in Amar Puri, Nabi Karim. Authorities arrived at the scene quickly. The incident occurred in a small 4×6-foot room where a woman named Sarita sold tea, dal-rice, and simple meals.

Investigations revealed that Krishna was replacing an old LPG cylinder at Sarita’s request. While opening the regulator, gas leaked and ignited, causing the fire to spread rapidly.

The injured include Sarita (35), Krishna (37), and two passersby, Ajay (19) and Jafir (35), who were present at the time. Local residents and police managed to evacuate them and transport them to RML Hospital.

Authorities indicated that the incident may have resulted from negligence regarding safety protocols during the cylinder replacement. The fire could have been prevented if the main valve had been closed before opening the regulator or if immediate precautions had been taken when the gas leaked.

Nabi Karim is a densely populated area with numerous small food stalls and eateries that frequently use LPG cylinders. Locals noted that similar incidents have occurred in the past, yet safety measures remain inadequate.

The Nabi Karim police station has initiated an investigation into the matter and urged residents to always adhere to safety standards when handling LPG cylinders.
