Leopard Attack Claims Life of Three-Year-Old in Gujarat Village

Bhinhar, Gujarat, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Bhinhar village, located in the Navsari district of Gujarat, where a leopard attacked a three-year-old boy, leading to his untimely death. The child was playing outside his home when the leopard snatched him away and carried him into the fields.

The incident occurred on October 6, 2026, and quickly sent shockwaves through the village. The boy, identified as Aarav Patel, was playing in the Kumhar Faliya area when the leopard struck. His mother witnessed the horrifying event as the animal took her son. In the aftermath, the family and neighbors raised an alarm, prompting local residents, police, and forest department teams to launch a search operation.

Upon receiving the report, the Range Forest Officer and his team rushed to the scene, joined by police personnel. They conducted an extensive search of the fields and surrounding areas for several hours. Tragically, the boy’s body was eventually found near the fields. The forest department has since sent the remains for a post-mortem examination at the Vansda Cottage Hospital.

Bhagirath Singh Jhala, the Assistant Conservator of Forests for the Dharampur subdivision, stated that they received information around 8 to 8:30 PM about the leopard attack. The search and rescue efforts were initiated immediately, leading to the discovery of the child’s body. Jhala noted that while initial reports suggest a leopard attack, a definitive confirmation will come after the post-mortem results are available.

In response to the incident, the forest department has intensified efforts to capture the leopard responsible for the attack. Five teams have been deployed under the leadership of the Range Forest Officer to monitor the animal’s activities and take necessary action. The community is now living in fear, with parents exercising caution and keeping their children indoors.

The local administration is also preparing the necessary legal documents to facilitate compensation for the grieving family.
