Heavy Rainfall Expected in Five Tamil Nadu Districts

Chennai, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Residents of Tamil Nadu should brace for heavy rainfall on Tuesday, as the meteorological department has predicted severe weather in five districts. The areas most likely to be affected include the hilly regions of Coimbatore, as well as Nilgiris, Theni, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri, where strong winds are also expected.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that a low-pressure system over Tamil Nadu and southern interior Karnataka is influencing the weather across the region. Light rainfall is anticipated in several other districts throughout the day, with some areas of Chennai experiencing light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Heavy rain is also expected in Nilgiris and Theni, along with the northern districts of Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri. The department warns that these locations may experience strong winds alongside the rain. Light rainfall is possible in Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, and Namakkal.

Additionally, districts such as Tirupattur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram, along with several western and northern areas, are predicted to see rainfall. In central Tamil Nadu and the Cauvery Delta region, light rain is expected in Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, and Perambalur. Rainfall is also forecasted for Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and Nagapattinam.

Light rain may occur in Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar, as well as in Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari. Some regions in Chennai are likely to see light rain, with the possibility of lightning strikes.

The intensity of the rainfall may vary across different areas on Tuesday, affecting a significant portion of the state. The IMD emphasizes the likelihood of heavy rain and strong winds in the identified districts, while other areas are expected to receive moderate rainfall, particularly in the western belt, northern interior, delta, and several districts in southern Tamil Nadu.
