New Delhi, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : In New Delhi, on October 6, Imran Masood, the acting president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress and a sitting MP, has called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He stated that the India Bloc’s recent protests are aimed at addressing the perceived nexus within the electoral system, urging all political parties to join Rahul Gandhi’s movement.
Speaking during a demonstration against Kumar in Delhi, Masood said, “The Chief Election Commissioner should resign. Gyanesh Kumar has breached the trust that the Election Commission earned as an independent and impartial body. When we demand his resignation, the BJP starts questioning us. We stand against this nexus that is operating in the country.”
Masood also commented on the Supreme Court’s notice to Kumar regarding changes to Form-6, describing the situation as serious. He expressed disappointment that parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), DMK, and BJD did not participate in the protests against Kumar. “Those who walk shoulder to shoulder with Rahul Gandhi will be visible in this fight. The rest will either be swept away in the storm or will remain on the other side,” he remarked.
Regarding AAP’s planned protest on October 10, Masood emphasized, “There is no middle ground. Either join us or side with the BJP.” He made it clear that there is no compromise for AAP, asserting that parties not standing with Rahul Gandhi in this struggle are on the opposing side.
Masood urged all opposition parties to unite and raise their voices regarding the questions surrounding the Election Commission’s impartiality.
