
New Delhi, June 3: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Union Defence, Industry, and Railways Minister and Padma Bhushan awardee George Fernandes, several prominent leaders across the country paid their respects. Many leaders remembered Fernandes as the voice of the poor, workers, and marginalized communities, as well as a fearless nationalist leader on social media platform X.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, the working president of the Janata Dal (United), posted on X, “On the birth anniversary of the esteemed George Fernandes, former Union Defence, Industry, and Railways Minister, a great socialist leader who tirelessly advocated for the underprivileged and workers, I pay my humble tribute.”
Former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal expressed, “On the birth anniversary of the beloved leader and former Defence Minister of India, Padma Bhushan George Fernandes, I offer my heartfelt homage. The nation will always remember Fernandes’s unique contributions to politics, the defence sector, and worker rights with pride.”
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also remembered George Fernandes, stating, “On the birth anniversary of senior leader Padma Bhushan George Fernandes, I extend my respectful greetings.”
Madhya Pradesh‘s Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan awardee and former Defence Minister George Fernandes, I pay my deepest respects. He was the voice of workers, the marginalized, and the poor. His unparalleled contribution to national service will always be remembered.”
Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya remarked, “On the birth anniversary of former Defence Minister and Padma Bhushan awardee George Fernandes, I offer my profound respects. His simple life, fearless leadership, and unwavering commitment to national interests will always inspire Indian politics.”
Bihar government minister and former Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha added, “On the birth anniversary of former Defence Minister and socialist leader Padma Bhushan George Fernandes, I pay my deepest respects.”
