Ladell Betts Set to Join Miami Dolphins as Running Backs Coach

Former New York Giants running backs coach Ladell Betts is expected to join the Miami Dolphins coaching staff, sources confirm. Betts, who spent the 2025 season with the Giants, is set to take charge of the Dolphins’ running game ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

In his first year with the Giants, Betts contributed to the team achieving the fifth-highest rushing yards in the league, accumulating a total of 2,195 yards. Prior to his stint with the Giants, Betts was a running back for the Washington Commanders, bringing valuable playing and coaching experience to his roles.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Betts will oversee the Dolphins’ running backs unit, which includes the NFL’s fifth-leading rusher, De’Von Achane. Achane recorded an impressive 1,350 rushing yards in the 2025 season. However, aside from Achane, no other Miami rusher surpassed 288 yards, indicating a need for greater depth and development at the position.

Betts has a proven record of nurturing talent, having successfully developed players like Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Cam Skattebo during his time in New York. Both players shared rushing duties alongside Devin Singletary and performed strongly under Betts’ guidance. The Dolphins hope that Betts’ expertise will enhance their ground attack and provide a more balanced rushing offence.

Hailing from Missouri, Betts is anticipated to bring his coaching acumen to Miami and help the Dolphins strengthen their running game as they prepare for the upcoming season.
