
New Delhi, April 6: The Kulgam police in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their anti-drug campaign, registering 10 FIRs under the NDPS Act over the past three weeks. Of these, 9 FIRs were filed at the Qazigund police station and 1 at the Devsar police station. In this operation, 14 traffickers were arrested, and a significant quantity of illegal narcotics was seized.
The police confiscated 415.61 grams of heroin, 1348 grams of charas (including powder and similar substances), 1.5 kilograms of cannabis leaves, and ₹137,990 in cash. Investigations revealed that these activities are part of an organized network.
In Qazigund, 163 grams of charas powder was seized from Rasik Ahmed Paddar, while 205 grams were found with Mohammad Idris Ghani. Additionally, 310 grams of charas were recovered from Maksood Ahmed Naiku.
In FIR 43/2026, 278 grams of heroin were seized (16 grams locally and 262 grams from previous links), along with ₹17,100 in cash. The investigation indicated that the drug network extends to Beli Chirran in Jammu through backward links.
FIR 52/2026 led to the recovery of 1.5 kilograms of cannabis leaves from Rafaqat Ahmed Khan, while FIR 53/2026 resulted in the seizure of 5 grams of heroin from Sahil Farooq.
In FIR 58/2026, 125.61 grams of heroin and ₹85,000 in cash were confiscated from Sikandar Singh and Mohammad Shafi Wani. FIR 61/2026 uncovered 140 grams of charas from Yawar Ahmed Dar.
FIR 63/2026 involved the recovery of 7 grams of heroin, 140 grams of charas, and ₹33,690 in cash from Mohammad Mantu Sheikh and Sameena Khatoon.
In FIR 15/2026 from the Devsar police station, approximately 390 grams of charas-like material and ₹2,200 were seized from Bilal Ahmed Tenda.
Kulgam SSP Anayat Ali Chaudhary stated that the police are committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and will continue strict action against all involved in the drug trade. He urged the public to share any information related to drug trafficking with the police, assuring complete confidentiality.
