
Malappuram, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation, police in Malappuram, Kerala, apprehended two men for allegedly trafficking drugs. The Kuttyapuram police, along with the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF), arrested Muhammad Rizwan, 25, and Muhammad Jasil, 41, who were found with 100 grams of MDMA.
The arrests took place on Friday morning in Thrippalur, Kuttyapuram. The duo, residents of Tavanur, were reportedly waiting for potential buyers when police acted on a tip-off. They arrived in a car, having allegedly transported the drugs from Bengaluru.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered several small packets of MDMA, which were prepared for sale. Authorities noted that the suspects had been under surveillance for some time. Jasil is believed to have financed the drug trafficking, while Rizwan acted as a courier, delivering drugs for Jasil.
Police plan to conduct thorough interrogations to gather more information about their network and other individuals involved in the drug trade. Additionally, law enforcement intends to enhance monitoring efforts in the area to combat drug trafficking.
In a related incident, Chhattisgarh police reported a major drug bust on the same day, recovering 440.63 kilograms of marijuana during “Operation Aghaat.” The drugs were concealed beneath bags of chili and were being transported from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh. Two suspects from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested, and the estimated value of the seized marijuana is around ₹2.4 crore.
