
New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Congress party has announced significant leadership changes in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. On October 2, 2026, Aradhana Mishra, known as ‘Mona’, was appointed as the new president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC). Additionally, Congress MP Imran Masood has been designated as the working president for the state.
According to a press release from the party, two senior vice presidents have also been appointed to the UPCC: Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad. These changes are effective immediately.
The party acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing UPCC president, Ajay Rai, in its announcement. Furthermore, the appointment of Chaudhary Virendra Singh as the leader of the Congress Legislative Party in Uttar Pradesh has also been approved, effective right away.
In Punjab, Congress has similarly revamped its state leadership. Paragat Singh has been named the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). The party also commended the efforts of the outgoing president, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
It was clarified that the previous working presidents, chairpersons, and co-chairpersons of various election-related committees in Punjab will maintain their positions.
The announcements were made through a press release by K.C. Venugopal, the party’s organizational general secretary. With these appointments, Congress aims to strengthen its leadership in both Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
