Kerala Government Implements Major Administrative Reshuffle

Thiruvananthapuram, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Kerala government has announced a significant reshuffle among IAS officers, affecting three districts and several key departments. This decision, made public on September 11, 2026, comes as preparations are underway for the upcoming pilgrimage season at Sabarimala.

Anju K.S. has been appointed as the new district collector of Thiruvananthapuram, taking over from Anu Kumari, who has been reassigned as the Special Commissioner for GST. Anju previously served as the Director of State Lotteries and will continue to chair the Vizhinjam Port Rehabilitation Monitoring Committee.

Chelasini V., the Director of Fisheries, has been named the district collector of Wayanad. Meanwhile, Sreedhanya Suresh, the Food Safety Commissioner, will take on the role of district collector in Kasaragod. The current collector of Kasaragod, Arjun Pandian, has been appointed as the Director of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare.

In anticipation of the 2026-27 Mandalam-Makaravilakku season, the government has created a special position of Additional District Magistrate (Sabarimala) to coordinate the efforts of various departments and agencies in Sabarimala, Pampa, and Nilackal. Dilip K. Kainikara has been assigned to this role.

Priyanka G., the district collector of Ernakulam, will additionally serve as the CEO of the Kochi Metropolitan Transport Authority. Shikha Suresh, the collector of Thrissur, has been given full additional charge as the Director General of the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA).

Arun K. Vijayan has been appointed as the Director of General Education, while Snehil Kumar Singh, previously the General Education Director, will now lead the Industries and Commerce Department. He will also manage the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited (KSITIL).

Sachin Kumar Yadav has been designated as the Director of the Kerala State IT Mission, with additional responsibilities as the CEO of Technopark and Managing Director of K-FON. Dr. Renu Raj has been appointed as the State Mission Director of the National Health Mission, overseeing e-health projects and the State Health Agency.

Anu S. Nair, the NHM Mission Director, has been assigned as the Food Safety Commissioner and will also manage the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL). Sabin Sameed has been appointed as the Director of the PRD, while Akhil V. Menon will oversee Sports and Youth Affairs and serve as Secretary of the State Sports Council.

Sumit Kumar Thakur will take on additional responsibilities as the Managing Director of KTDC. Dr. Shriram V. has been appointed as the Joint Secretary and Officer on Special Duty in the Forest and Wildlife Department.

Tight coordination among these new appointees is expected to enhance governance and public service delivery across Kerala.
