New Delhi, March 29: The election campaign in Kerala is intensifying. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in electoral events in Palakkad and Thrissur on Sunday. He expressed his eagerness to connect with the people of Kerala.
On Sunday, PM Modi posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I am eagerly looking forward to being among the people of Kerala this evening. I will address a rally in Palakkad and then participate in a roadshow in Thrissur. The atmosphere in Kerala is favorable for the NDA. People are dissatisfied with the governance of the LDF and UDF.”
Political parties are fully mobilized for the Kerala elections. Key leaders from various political factions are actively participating in rallies across the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is also engaging in electoral events in four assembly constituencies in Palakkad district on Sunday.
It is noteworthy that the Kerala Assembly elections for 140 members will take place on April 9. The counting of votes and results will be announced on May 4, 2026. The current term of the Kerala Assembly is set to end on May 23.
This time, a total of 890 candidates are contesting in the Kerala Assembly elections. According to the final voter list published by the Election Commission of India, 27.1 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in Kerala.
The state is witnessing a triangular contest among the LDF, UDF, and NDA. The LDF, led by the CPI(M), faces the challenge of retaining power, while the Congress-led UDF is attempting to make a comeback, and the BJP-led NDA hopes for significant success.
In the 2021 elections, the LDF won 99 seats, the Congress-led UDF secured 41 seats, and the BJP did not win any seats. The party had previously won its first seat in 2016.
