Hyderabad, May 6: Kavita has accused the Telangana Congress government of conspiring to undermine the fee reimbursement scheme. On Wednesday, she claimed that the government issued an order stating that the pending amount of ₹11,000 crores would be deposited directly into the accounts of students’ parents instead of being given to colleges.
Kavita stated, “This government has issued this order to weaken college managements, which have been struggling for years to receive their dues. Our movement will continue until the government withdraws this order and pays the outstanding amounts to college managements.”
Addressing a roundtable meeting on ‘Quality Education and Fee Regulation,’ she also criticized the significant hike in school fees. She urged the Congress party, which claims to be a government for the people, to issue a government order on fee regulation by May as promised.
Kavita pointed out that private educational institutions are arbitrarily increasing fees, placing a heavy financial burden on parents, which needs to be curtailed. She alleged that Hyderabad Public School raised its fees by up to 120% in one year, which she deemed completely unjustifiable, especially since the institution operates on government land.
She further alleged that an individual has held a position for 14 years and is reportedly training new people in corrupt practices, indicating a lack of oversight. Kavita also questioned the absence of accountability regarding donations made by alumni and notable figures like Satya Nadella.
Additionally, she claimed that relatives of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and others are attempting illegal encroachments on the 30 acres of school land. Kavita emphasized that these issues reveal serious problems within Hyderabad Public School, necessitating a thorough investigation into its operations. She demanded immediate action on these matters.
