Vijayawada, July 11: BJP spokesperson Yamini Sharma launched a verbal attack on the Congress and National Conference regarding the Jammu and Kashmir issue and the induction of the indigenous stealth warship INS Mahendragiri into the Indian Navy. She asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is an inseparable part of India, and no terrorist organization, separatist group, or anti-India political party like Congress can separate it from the nation.
In an interview, Sharma emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir has always been and will remain a part of India. She criticized the National Conference, led by Farooq Abdullah, for rolling out the red carpet for separatist leaders like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who have incited stone-pelting and supported the violence of 2010, thereby strengthening the atmosphere of cross-border terrorism.
Sharma urged Congress, despite being a national party, to refrain from politicizing the Jammu and Kashmir issue. She claimed that Congress and its allies are taking steps that undermine the unity and integrity of the country.
She pointed out that the nation has suffered for 70 years due to the historical blunders of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, which allowed Article 370 to turn Jammu and Kashmir into a center of unrest and violence. The central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made a historic decision by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, fully integrating Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream of the country.
Citing the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Sharma stated that his sacrifice was based on the belief that “one country cannot have two flags, two laws, and two leaders.” The central government has advanced this ideology by implementing one constitution, one flag, and one system in Jammu and Kashmir. Today, the region is more peaceful and progressing towards development compared to the past. The central government will ensure that the Abdullah family or Congress cannot lead Jammu and Kashmir back into violence and unrest.
Sharma also hailed the induction of the indigenous stealth warship INS Mahendragiri into the Indian Navy as a historic achievement. She noted that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has included the sixth advanced indigenous stealth warship of the Nilgiri class into the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy. This moment is a point of pride not just for Andhra Pradesh but for the entire country and the Indian Navy. Under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Modi, India is manufacturing indigenous fighter aircraft, warships, and other defense equipment, which are now also being exported. Mahendragiri will further enhance the naval strength of the Indian Navy and bolster India’s strategic capabilities in the Indian Ocean region.
