Bengaluru, August 18: The Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list in Karnataka has reached a significant stage. The door-to-door enumeration is underway, and the deadline for submitting enumeration forms (EF) ends today.
Recent data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka indicates that the entire counting process has been digitized, with approximately 1.08 crore voters categorized as ASDDO.
According to the CEO’s daily press release, as of June 16, 2026, there were 55,432,314 voters in Karnataka’s voter list. The counting process took place from June 30 to August 17.
While all 55,432,314 enumeration forms were printed and distributed to booth-level officers (BLOs), data shows that 44,600,369 EF, or 80.46 percent, have been digitized. Additionally, 1,08,31,945 voters, accounting for 19.54 percent of the total, have been marked as ASDDO.
ASDDO refers to voters identified during the verification process as having “moved elsewhere,” “deceased,” “duplicates,” or “others.”
Among the total voters marked as ASDDO, 6,561,607 (11.84 percent) have permanently moved, 1,638,839 (2.96 percent) are deceased, 1,528,985 (2.76 percent) could not be located or were absent, 707,792 (1.28 percent) are already registered elsewhere, and 394,722 (0.71 percent) fall under the “other” category.
Voters who have permanently moved represent the largest segment of the ASDDO category.
The CEO’s office emphasized that voters incorrectly marked as ASDDO can rectify their status. The ASDDO list has been made available to political parties and is also accessible for verification by BLOs.
Voters who believe they have been wrongly categorized can contact their BLO or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) by today. The list of ASDDO voters identified during the SIR 2026 is also available on the CEO’s website. Data further reveals that voters have submitted 711,712 enumeration forms (1.28 percent) online.
After completing the door-to-door enumeration phase, election officials will move on to the next steps of the SIR process, which include publishing the draft voter list followed by a claims and objections process.
On Monday, civil society organizations appealed to Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to intervene in the ongoing SIR process. They alleged that eligible voters could be wrongfully removed from the voter list.
A delegation led by actor Prakash Raj met with the Chief Minister at Vidhana Soudha and submitted a memorandum. They claimed that Karnataka is witnessing the highest incidents of names being removed from the voter list in the country.
