
Patna, August 18: Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated a significant workshop on the auction of strategic mineral blocks and the National Mineral Exploration and Development Trust (NMEDT) organized by the Ministry of Coal and Mines of the Government of India on Monday.
While addressing the event, Chaudhary emphasized that Bihar has thoroughly studied its mineral blocks. He underscored the importance of utilizing these resources in the public interest while safeguarding the state’s historical and cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and the goal of a prosperous Bihar. He revealed that out of 44 mining blocks in Bihar, surveys have progressed in 28, and the state aims to complete the process for over 30 blocks by September 30. Mining activities are targeted to commence on October 15.
Several mineral blocks have already been put up for tender, while the process for additional blocks is ongoing. Officials have been instructed to complete the remaining work within nine months.
Highlighting the state’s mineral wealth, Chaudhary mentioned limestone in Rohtas, mineral resources in Aurangabad, reserves in Jehanabad and Jamui, and additional prospects in Gaya, Banka, and Bhagalpur. He assured that these resources would be systematically utilized for the benefit of Bihar’s people, with revenue from royalties directed towards public welfare and development.
Chaudhary noted that Bihar’s budget has now reached ₹3.47 lakh crore, with development projects being implemented rapidly. He linked mineral development to the government’s broader investment strategy, stating efforts are underway to establish mineral-related centers and attract ₹5 lakh crore in investments by November.
He also mentioned discussions with Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy and praised Union Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey for efforts related to Bihar. In appealing to investors, Chaudhary stated that the state government is providing incentives and concessions to facilitate industrial investment.
Chaudhary urged, “We invite everyone to invest in Bihar with an open mind. Help advance Bihar. You are completely safe here, and you can work without fear. The Bihar government will support you in every way.”
During the event, Satish Chandra Dubey welcomed the Chief Minister, presenting him with a green plant, a bouquet, and a symbolic memento. Dubey and Sandeep V. Kadam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Coal and Mines, also addressed the gathering.
