Karnataka BJP Announces Protests Against Congress Over Womens Reservation Issue

Bengaluru, April 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has declared a series of protests across the state against Congress regarding the women’s reservation issue. The party’s women’s wing has labeled Congress as “anti-women” and is set to take to the streets.

During a joint press conference held at the BJP office ‘Jagannath Bhavan’ in Bengaluru, Opposition Leader R. Ashok and Legislative Council Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy were present. They unveiled a poster titled “Hands That Block Women’s Power, Congress That Suppresses Women’s Rights.”

C. Manjula, the state president of the BJP women’s wing, stated that preparations for a celebration regarding women’s political reservation had turned into anger. She noted that protests have already begun in several locations, including Mysuru, Gadag, Nelamangala, and Kolar, and this movement will continue indefinitely.

“This outrage will persist until Congress is removed from power,” she asserted. Additionally, protests are planned for three districts in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Manjula accused Congress of internal contradictions regarding the women’s reservation issue and emphasized that the BJP will expose the “anti-women policies” of parties like Congress and Trinamool Congress.

BJP’s state vice president Malavika Avinash remarked that after nearly seven decades of struggle, the women’s reservation bill was close to being enacted, but Congress and its allies have weakened it, which she deemed a disgrace to democracy.

“The women of this country will never forgive Congress for this insult. In the coming days, they will witness the women’s response to Congress,” she stated.

Avinash also alleged that some parties in Parliament operate like private companies. She accused the Samajwadi Party, DMK, and Congress of promoting dynastic politics.

She provided examples, stating that families like the Gandhis—Priyanka, Sonia, and Indira—are prioritized within Congress, while ordinary women are denied opportunities.

“Common women in the country aspire to reach Parliament and Assemblies, but these parties do not provide them with opportunities,” she concluded.

Finally, she mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paved the way for implementing women’s reservation, but opposition parties have obstructed this process.
