Madrid, August 6: Sevilla’s wing-back Juanlu Sanchez is on the verge of joining Premier League club Bournemouth. The defender confirmed the potential transfer on Wednesday.
According to a report by Xinhua, the 22-year-old player spoke to the media at Sevilla Airport while preparing to head to England to finalize the deal. He is expected to sign a contract with the club until June 2030, under the management of Marco Rose.
Juanlu stated, “Ultimately, this is a great project for moving forward, and we both needed this.” Reports suggest that Bournemouth will spend approximately €11 million (around $12.7 million) on Sanchez, providing much-needed financial support to Sevilla.
He acknowledged, “The club (Sevilla) needed that income, and I also needed to keep progressing. Leaving home is always tough, but when I saw the project and the club’s offer, I felt there was little doubt for either of us.”
Juanlu admitted that it took a long time to finalize the deal, but he expressed excitement about the future. “These years have been fantastic, with some challenging moments, but in the end, we all overcame it. Wherever I go, I will continue to support Sevilla.”
Meanwhile, Sevilla has confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez from Real Madrid. The 21-year-old has signed a contract until June 2031, becoming the sixth new player for Sevilla this summer. Fran Gonzalez has played one match for Real Madrid’s first team and has appeared 46 times for the club’s B team, regularly representing Spain at the under-20 and under-21 levels.
Reports indicate that Sevilla paid approximately €1 million for 50% of Gonzalez’s rights, while Real Madrid retains a portion to benefit from any future sale.
