Dubai, September 3: Sri Lanka secured a commanding victory over Indonesia in the sixth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, winning by 75 runs thanks to an outstanding performance by captain Chamari Attapattu. Attapattu claimed 7 wickets for just 5 runs in 3.3 overs, including a hat-trick in the final overs.
Batting first after losing the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka managed to score only 124 runs, losing 7 wickets in their 20 overs. The team faced an early setback, losing Imesha Dulani for just 3 runs at a score of 5. Attapattu then partnered with Sanjana Kavindi to add 22 runs for the second wicket. Sanjana scored 15 runs, while Attapattu contributed 9 runs off 13 balls.
Sri Lanka struggled, losing 6 wickets for just 62 runs. However, Nilakshika Silva and Kavya Kavindi formed a crucial partnership, adding 50 runs for the seventh wicket in 36 balls, helping the team surpass the century mark. Nilakshika scored 50 runs off 35 balls with 4 boundaries, while Kavya remained unbeaten on 15. From the Indonesian side, Ni Luh Devi took 3 wickets, and Sang Mepriayani claimed 2.
In response, Indonesia was bowled out for a mere 49 runs in 18.3 overs. Maria Korajon (6) and Rahmawati Pangesutii (10) managed to put together 18 runs for the first wicket, but once that partnership was broken, wickets fell rapidly.
Attapattu struck twice in the sixth over, coming close to a hat-trick but fell short. By the 17.3 over mark, Indonesia had lost 7 wickets for just 46 runs. Attapattu took the ball again in the next over, starting with a bold dismissal of Ni Kadek Ariyani (2). She followed up by bowling Sang Mepriayani (0) LBW and completed her hat-trick by dismissing Lakshmi Parimita (0) LBW on the third ball of the over. This performance sealed Sri Lanka’s victory by 75 runs.
Attapattu’s remarkable achievement of 7 wickets was complemented by Kavya Kavindi, Sugandhika Kumari, and Kavisha Dilhari, who each took 1 wicket.
