JSLPS Signs MoU with IIM Kolkata to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Ranchi, April 20: The Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) has taken a significant step towards innovation and entrepreneurship. Women associated with the Jharkhand Sakhi Mandal will now gain insights into the nuances of entrepreneurship with the assistance of IIM Kolkata’s Innovation Park (IIMCIP).

To enhance the skills of women entrepreneurs in the rural economy of Jharkhand, JSLPS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIMCIP Kolkata. This initiative will operate under a three-year plan. Through this MoU, IIMCIP Kolkata will act as an incubator, helping women entrepreneurs from the Sakhi Mandal across all 24 districts and 264 blocks of the state to adapt their businesses to market demands.

In the first phase of the plan, approximately 50,000 rural women entrepreneurs will be identified. From this group, the top 500 will receive mentorship in comprehensive entrepreneurship and business management. Additionally, training will be provided on how to achieve an annual turnover of crores of rupees through advanced technical management techniques. The objective is to help 150 eligible rural women entrepreneurs establish businesses with an annual turnover of one crore through incubation techniques.

To facilitate this, JSLPS officials and non-farm community cadre CRP-EP will be trained in incubator skills. Even after the completion of the program, rural women entrepreneurs in the state will continue to benefit from the incubation ecosystem, as IIMCIP will develop a local incubator in each division of the state. This service will be provided to women completely free of charge.

The plan includes a provision of 5 crore rupees for equity funds, challenge funds, and soft loans for the entrepreneurs. The MoU was signed between JSLPS COO Vishnu Parida and IIMCIP Kolkata CEO Dr. Vivek Kumar Roy, with other officials present, including Dr. Gaurav Kapoor, Nitish Kumar Sinha, Tumul Tarang, Dheeraj Pandey, and Nishant Dev.
