Josh Inglis Becomes First Australian to Score Centuries in All Formats
Josh Inglis makes history by scoring centuries in all formats of international cricket during the third Test against South Africa.

Cape Town, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis achieved a historic milestone on Thursday at Newlands, Cape Town, by scoring 102 runs in the first innings of the third Test against South Africa. This remarkable feat makes Inglis the first Australian cricketer to notch up centuries in all three formats of international cricket.
Returning to the Test playing eleven nearly a year after his last match, Inglis reached his century off 132 balls, hitting two sixes and 11 fours. This marked his second Test century; his first came in January 2025 against Sri Lanka during his debut innings.
Inglis joins a select group of only three Australian players who have scored multiple centuries in T20 international cricket. Besides him, Glenn Maxwell (5) and Aaron Finch (2) have also achieved this, but neither has scored multiple centuries in other formats. Maxwell has four centuries in ODIs but only one in Tests, while Finch boasts 17 ODI centuries without a Test century to his name.
Inglis made his return to the playing eleven for the decisive Test after missing several matches due to a finger fracture sustained during the recent ODI series against South Africa. His last Test appearance was during the 2025 Ashes series.
Batting first after losing the toss, the South African team scored 329 runs in their first innings, with notable contributions from Aiden Markram (78), Marcus Ackermann (95), David Beddingham (50), and Marco Jansen (50). On the Australian side, Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler, claiming six wickets for 72 runs.
In reply, Australia reached 411 runs for the loss of eight wickets by the end of 117 overs. After losing four wickets for just 185 runs, Inglis formed a crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 185 runs with Alex Carey, helping the team surpass the 350-run mark.
