BJP Faces Setback in Maharashtra MLC Elections, Claims Sanjay Raut
Sanjay Raut criticizes BJPs losses in Maharashtra MLC elections, highlighting defeats in key areas including Varanasi and Lucknow.

Mumbai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Sanjay Raut, a Member of Parliament from Shiv Sena (UBT), has sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the recent results of the Maharashtra MLC elections. Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Raut pointed out that the elections were conducted using ballot papers, a method in which the BJP suffered defeats.
He specifically noted that in Varanasi, Prime Minister Modi‘s parliamentary constituency, the BJP lost when ballot papers were used. The party also faced setbacks in Lucknow and various graduate constituencies across Maharashtra, where they were unable to secure victories.
Raut emphasized that the BJP must acknowledge this defeat, stating that a somber atmosphere now prevails within the party following losses in Nagpur, Kashi, and Lucknow.
In response to BJP leaders’ comments regarding the Congress’s performance, Raut questioned their focus on Congress’s lack of wins. He argued that even a single seat in Nagpur, Varanasi, or Lucknow holds equal weight to a hundred others, highlighting the significance of these losses for the BJP.
He asserted that the BJP has historically relied on fraudulent means to achieve victories but will now consistently face defeats.
On a positive note for the opposition, Congress candidate Abhijit Govindarav Wanjari emerged victorious in the Nagpur graduate MLC election. Wanjari expressed confidence in his win, stating he had conducted surveys and was aware of the support from his voters over the past six years. He credited his success to a well-planned strategy and collaboration with various organizations, dismissing any negative atmosphere created by opponents as ineffective.
Despite the BJP’s efforts to win the election, Wanjari’s campaign resonated with the electorate, leading to his triumph.
