
Srinagar, August 21: For young individuals preparing for government jobs and awaiting vacancy announcements, this is a great opportunity. The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued an official notification inviting applications to fill backlog vacancies for the positions of Assistant Professor and Librarian in the Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir.
The vacancies announced by JKPSC include 2 Assistant Professors in Biomedical Engineering, 2 in Electrical and Electronics, 1 in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and 1 Librarian position.
The online application process for these positions commenced on August 1 and the deadline to apply is set for August 31. Interested candidates can successfully complete the registration process on the JKPSC official website before or by the final date. Additionally, a window for correcting any errors made during the application process will be active from September 1 to September 3.
Applicants must hold a BE/BTech and a Master’s degree in the relevant branch from a recognized institution or university for the Assistant Professor positions, with at least a first-class qualification in either degree. For the Librarian position, candidates must have a good academic record and must have passed the NET/SLAT/SET exam conducted by UGC, CSIR, or AIU.
The maximum age limit for applicants is set at 40 years, calculated as of January 1, 2026. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.
Selection of eligible candidates will be based on scrutiny of applications, written examinations, document verification, and other stages. Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹15,600 to ₹39,100, along with an Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of ₹6,000.
While filling out the application form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is ₹1,200 for the general category and ₹700 for reserved categories. PHC candidates are exempt from the registration fee.
