Tragic Bus Accident in Chhatarpur Claims One Life, Injures 15 Workers

Chhatarpur, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic accident occurred near Dhohdan Dam in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, on October 9, when a bus carrying workers from the Ken-Betwa link project suffered a brake failure. Reports indicate that one worker lost his life, while approximately 15 others sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the district hospital in Chhatarpur for treatment.

The incident took place late Thursday night when the bus unexpectedly lost its brakes, causing it to accelerate. In a desperate attempt to escape, several workers jumped from the moving vehicle. At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying around 48 workers who were returning home after completing their shift at the project.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver alerted the workers about the increasing speed of the bus, prompting panic among them. A wounded worker from Gorakhpur recounted that everyone was returning after their workday when the brakes failed, leading to the chaotic scene.

Dr. Roshan Dwivedi, stationed at the district hospital, confirmed that between 9 and 10 PM, about 15 injured individuals were brought in. Unfortunately, one of the workers succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The remaining 14 men are currently receiving medical care. Notably, there were no women among the injured, with most workers hailing from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The treatment of the injured continues at the hospital.
