Jishu Sengupta Calls Working with Priyadarshan a Dream Come True in Bhoot-Bungalow

Mumbai, March 26: The horror-comedy film ‘Bhoot-Bungalow,’ featuring Akshay Kumar and Vamika Gabbi, is set to hit theaters on April 10. The film has received a UA-16 rating for its release. Bengali actor Jishu Sengupta plays a significant role in the movie and describes working alongside Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan as a dream come true.

In an exclusive interview, Jishu Sengupta expressed that collaborating with director Priyadarshan feels surreal. He noted that when Priyadarshan directs serious films, a serious atmosphere naturally prevails on set. Conversely, during comedy shoots, new dimensions of humor emerge. Jishu recalled his first encounter with Priyadarshan at the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), where he expressed his desire to work with him. Although it took time, he feels proud to have finally collaborated with the esteemed director.

Reflecting on his experience on set, Jishu mentioned that the initial days felt strange. While he wasn’t nervous, he was unsure about the flow of shots. Upon inquiring, he learned that everything was perfect. He noted that when things are going well, the director remains silent, but he provides feedback when there are issues. Jishu highlighted that Priyadarshan listens to everyone on set, and when Akshay Kumar offers suggestions, the director readily accepts them.

When asked why he agreed to be part of ‘Bhoot-Bungalow,’ Jishu emphasized that despite the numerous characters, each has its own identity and story. For him, a well-defined role is crucial, which is why he chose to participate in the film.

Discussing the differences between Hindi and Bengali cinema, Jishu pointed out the significant budget disparities. He explained that a Bengali film can be made for around 3 crore and typically takes 16 to 20 days to shoot. In contrast, Bollywood films often have much larger budgets. He cited Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films, noting that even a single song can take ten days to shoot due to the elaborate sets, while half of a Bengali film could be completed in that time.

Reflecting on his career beginnings, Jishu admitted that he never intended to pursue acting, as his father was a theater actor. He shared that his mother did not want him to enter the film industry, nor did he wish to. His passion lies in music, and he even has his own band. However, fate led him to cinema, and he revealed that he rarely watches his own films.
