Ranchi, June 14: In Jharkhand, the Special Voter Revision (SIR) campaign has successfully mapped approximately 2.11 crore voters out of 2.64 crore, which is nearly 80% of the total. The Election Commission has clarified that there is currently no need for voters to submit documents amidst growing confusion regarding the process.
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar stated on Sunday that during the enumeration phase, no documents will be collected from voters. Voters are only required to provide a completed and signed enumeration form along with a recent color photograph to the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
He explained that those who have matched their names with the previous voter list will have their names included in the draft voter list without needing any additional documents. In cases where discrepancies or errors are found, the relevant electoral officer and BLO will attempt to make corrections based on available records.
The Chief Electoral Officer noted that documents will only be requested in specific cases where objections or doubts arise during verification. Affected voters will be informed separately during the notice and verification period starting August 5.
He also mentioned that BLOs will distribute pre-prepared forms door-to-door and will collect the filled forms to include them in the digital records. The initial phase does not require document submission to simplify and ensure transparency in the process. There is a separate arrangement for new voters. Citizens who turn 18 by October 1, 2026, and wish to register for the first time must submit Form-6 along with the required declaration and documents.
The election department has urged the public to disregard rumors about document submission and to participate in the process based solely on official instructions.
