Jharkhand PSC Members Resign Amid Ongoing Examination Controversy

Ranchi, August 9: In a significant administrative development amidst ongoing protests against irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations, three members of the commission have resigned. Dr. Ajita Bhattacharya, Dr. Anima Hansda, and Dr. Jamal Ahmed submitted their resignations to the Governor. The reasons behind their resignations have not been officially disclosed yet.

The JPSC has been embroiled in controversy due to alleged irregularities and fraud in recent competitive examinations. Candidates have been persistently protesting, demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the examination process. The simultaneous resignation of the three members is seen as a pivotal moment in this ongoing saga. Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating the alleged examination irregularities, will question each of the three members separately.

According to officials, Dr. Ajita Bhattacharya will be questioned on Monday, Dr. Anima Hansda on Tuesday, and Dr. Jamal Ahmed on Wednesday. If necessary, they may be called in for further questioning. Previously, the CID had conducted four rounds of questioning with the former JPSC chairman and former Chief Secretary L. Khiangte, gathering information on various aspects related to the examination process and decisions made at the commission level.

The CID’s investigation into alleged irregularities during the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination is progressing steadily. On Saturday, questioning continued with computer operator Dharmendra Kumar from the Chief Secretary’s office and accountant Rakshak Singh from the examination conducting agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), who were both on a five-day remand.

The investigative agency is collecting information regarding the examination process, alleged irregularities, and communications among involved parties. Based on the facts revealed during the questioning, the CID is preparing for further actions. Sources indicate that additional arrests may occur in the coming days based on leads uncovered during the investigation.
