Lal Bihari Yadav Secures Second Consecutive Victory for SP in Varanasi Teacher MLC Seat

Lal Bihari Yadav wins the Varanasi Teacher MLC seat again, defeating BJPs Pramod Mishra by over 5,000 votes.

Varanasi, October 28 (Daily Kiran) : Lal Bihari Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP) has won the Varanasi Teacher MLC seat for the second consecutive time, defeating his closest rival, Dr. Pramod Mishra of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a margin of 5,015 votes.

As soon as the results were announced, SP workers and supporters erupted in celebration. They distributed sweets and cheered loudly in support of their party. The atmosphere was lively, with supporters dancing to the beats of drums and music, continuing the festivities late into the night.

Yadav received a total of 11,612 votes, while Mishra garnered 6,597. This victory has sparked immense enthusiasm among SP supporters, who celebrated with slogans and music as soon as the results were declared.

Following his win, Yadav expressed gratitude to SP national president Akhilesh Yadav, attributing his success to the focus on teachers’ issues and the party’s policies. He highlighted the importance of restoring the old pension scheme, addressing the pay of non-funded teachers, and improving service conditions for teachers in aided and government schools. He also mentioned issues concerning minority schools and madrasas, as well as the opposition to semester-based examinations in degree colleges as key concerns for educators.

Yadav noted that he had won the previous election by a margin of nearly 1,000 votes, but this time, the difference exceeded 5,000. He believes this result reflects the growing trust teachers have in the party and himself.

He expressed hope that Akhilesh Yadav would become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh once again, vowing to address teachers’ issues promptly. “The SP government stands with teachers, and that is why they have re-elected me. I will work diligently to fulfill the promises I made to them,” Yadav stated.
