Jharkhand Health Minister Appoints 76 Medical Officers, Promises Recruitment of 1250 Doctors Soon

Ranchi, March 25: On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari presented appointment letters to 76 selected medical officers at a ceremony held at the IPH auditorium in Namkum, Ranchi.

During the event, he emphasized the invaluable contribution of doctors to society and announced plans to fill 1250 regular positions through the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) to address the shortage of doctors in the state.

Dr. Ansari urged the newly appointed doctors not only to treat patients but also to inform the government about systemic shortcomings in hospitals so that necessary improvements can be made. He outlined the state government’s achievements and future plans.

He mentioned that in the past year, efforts have been made to establish eight new medical colleges, and for the first time, a medical university has been set up in the state, enabling local students to receive medical education locally.

The minister stated that modern facilities like CT scans and MRIs are being ensured in major hospitals to prevent the need for patient referrals to other states. Additionally, a new toll-free number-based system is being implemented to strengthen the blood supply system, along with a statewide screening campaign for sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.

He also clarified that the government is working towards modernizing health services by implementing AI and robotic technology in hospitals. In relation to World Tuberculosis Day, the minister reiterated the goal of achieving a ‘TB-free Jharkhand’ by 2030 and flagged off awareness vehicles as part of this campaign.

Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, announced that the target for TB screening this year is set at 1.2 million people, significantly higher than the previous year.

He assured that the appointment of medical officers was conducted through a completely transparent process. Meanwhile, Shashi Prakash Jha, Director of the National Health Mission, mentioned plans to accelerate TB screening and awareness activities at all health centers in the state over the next 100 days.
