Jasprit Bumrahs Disappointing IPL 2026 Season: A Nightmare for the Star Bowler

New Delhi, June 2: Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in IPL 2026 has been nothing short of a nightmare. In 13 matches, he managed to take only 4 wickets, with a staggering bowling average of 102.50. Following a stellar showing in the T20 World Cup, expectations were high for Bumrah this season. However, he struggled to make an impact.

Throughout the season, Bumrah appeared desperate for wickets. Known for his ability to take wickets in any situation, he could only secure 4 in IPL 2026. His average of 102.50 is the highest among bowlers who bowled over 30 overs in a single IPL season. Alarmingly, there were 9 matches where he failed to take even one wicket. Not a single game saw him claim more than one wicket.

Given Bumrah’s stature, this is considered his worst season in IPL history. While he had previously taken 3 wickets in both 2013 and 2015, he played only 2 matches in 2013 and 4 in 2015. His struggles clearly affected the performance of the Mumbai Indians. The pressure on other bowlers increased due to Bumrah’s lack of form, allowing opposing batsmen to capitalize.

Out of 14 matches played in IPL 2026, the Mumbai Indians won only 4, suffering losses in 10 games. They finished the tournament in 9th place on the points table. Indian cricket fans hope that Bumrah’s poor form is limited to this IPL season and that he will return to form when donning the Indian jersey again.
