Abhishek Sharma Eyes Suryakumar Yadavs T20 Record in Ranchi Clash

Ranchi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : India and West Indies are set to face off in the second match of their five-match T20 series on Friday at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Abhishek Sharma, known for his explosive batting, has a chance to break a significant record held by former Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar currently holds the record for the fastest 2,000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving this milestone in just 1,164 balls. Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, has scored 1,947 runs off 997 balls over 62 innings in 63 matches. This means he needs only a few more balls to surpass Suryakumar’s record. If he continues to bat aggressively, he could reach 2,000 runs in just 20 to 25 more balls.

In the first T20 match played in Lucknow, Sharma showed promise but was dismissed for 21 runs off 10 balls. Fans will be eager to see if he can outpace Suryakumar in Ranchi.

The record for the second-fastest 2,000 runs in international T20 cricket belongs to former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who achieved the feat in 1,289 balls. Following him is Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who reached 2,000 runs in 1,326 balls. If Sharma breaks Suryakumar’s record, Babar and Rizwan will drop to third and fourth place, respectively.

Currently ranked second in the ICC T20 rankings, Abhishek Sharma is regarded as one of the most dangerous openers in the game. It seems highly likely that he will set a new record with his bat in the upcoming match.
