Jammu, February 26: The Jammu Police in the South Zone took a significant step today to enhance community-police partnerships in Rajiv Nagar. A crucial meeting of the Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) focused on raising awareness about the growing threat of drugs. Local residents openly expressed their concerns, while police assured them that all possible measures would be taken to ensure safety in the area.
The meeting was chaired by the South City SP of Jammu, with the inclusion of senior officials, including the SHO of Bahu Fort Police Station and the in-charge of PP Narwal. Dozens of residents from Rajiv Nagar participated in this interactive session. During the meeting, locals voiced deep concerns about the presence of drug peddlers and activities related to drug trafficking. They noted that these issues are increasing addiction among youth and creating an atmosphere of fear within families.
Police officials listened attentively to the community’s concerns and acknowledged the need to intensify the anti-drug campaign. The South City SP elaborated that drug use is not only detrimental to health but also leads to serious issues such as social disintegration, increased crime, and family breakdowns. He also provided information about legal repercussions and urged residents to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police immediately.
Another significant issue discussed was the disturbances caused by unruly youths and antisocial elements late at night. Residents reported that such incidents are raising concerns about the safety of women and children. The police promptly assured that patrols in Rajiv Nagar and surrounding areas would be increased. A special monitoring team would be deployed at night, and strict action would be taken against antisocial elements.
The SP stated, “Trust and cooperation between the community and police are the strongest links in crime control. We want people to voice their concerns without fear and report any suspicious activities.”
