Jammu Police Arrests Three Major Drug Traffickers, Seizes 780 Grams of Heroin

Jammu, June 23: Jammu Police successfully apprehended three significant drug traffickers on Tuesday at the Gandhi Nagar police station. Approximately 780 grams of a substance resembling heroin was seized during the operation.

Under the ‘Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan’ (Drug-Free India Campaign), Jammu Police has been actively combating drug trafficking. Under the supervision of the SSP Jammu, the Gandhi Nagar police station uncovered a drug network linked to Punjab, leading to this substantial seizure.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gagandeep Singh (resident of Gulmohar Avenue, Majitha Road, Amritsar), Damanjot Singh (resident of Krishna Nagar, Jammu), and Vivek Kumar (also a resident of Krishna Nagar, Jammu).

An FIR has been registered against the three accused at the Gandhi Nagar police station under relevant sections of the law. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

This operation is part of a broader initiative against drug abuse and organized crime in Jammu and Kashmir. Another significant action took place on June 19, where police arrested three individuals and seized 260 grams of heroin, weapons, and ammunition.

In this earlier operation, the police recovered 260 grams of a substance resembling heroin, two pistols, two country-made guns, a revolver, and a sharp weapon (kirch). The arrested suspects were identified as Aftab Bhat from Gujjar Nagar, Chanchal Singh from Shastri Nagar, and Anup Singh Jasrotia from Krishna Colony, Kathua.

The police have initiated an investigation into this case as well, emphasizing their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and organized crime in the region.
