Srinagar, August 31: Jammu and Kashmir Minister and National Conference (NC) leader Javed Ahmad Dar addressed recent reports of internal party disagreements, labeling them as mere ‘rumors.’
In a statement to the press, he dismissed claims of discord within the party, asserting, “These rumors are being spread to boost TRP ratings.” He emphasized that such speculation is intentionally fabricated and urged journalists to refrain from propagating unfounded claims. “There is nothing of the sort. No one is disheartened. Our leaders are strong, and their team is equally robust,” he stated.
Dar assured that the party would accept any decisions made by its leadership, referencing a past instance from 2012 when eight ministers were tasked with managing party affairs. “Whatever decision our leaders make, we are prepared to accept it, and we must. We witnessed this in 2012 when eight ministers were entrusted with party responsibilities, and all but a few from the Jammu division complied,” he explained.
He characterized the National Conference as a high-level and disciplined party, reiterating, “These are merely rumors and speculations aimed at increasing TRP ratings. The party is completely united.”
Despite the minister’s assertions, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi publicly declared that the NC has failed to fulfill its promises to the public. He accused party leaders of attempting to permanently close the chapter on the restoration of Article 370 and 35A.
Ruhullah announced his intention to resign from both the National Assembly and Lok Sabha on November 3, the anniversary of his father’s assassination by terrorists 26 years ago. He represents the Srinagar constituency in the Lok Sabha. His tumultuous relationship with Omar Abdullah culminated in his decision to leave the party.
In contrast, senior National Conference leaders, including party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, challenged Ruhullah to contest elections independently without the party’s support.
