Israeli Army Prepared for Military Action Against Iran, Says Chief

Jerusalem, May 25: The Chief of the Israeli Army has stated that the military is fully prepared to resume military action against Iran if necessary. This statement comes at a time when reports suggest some progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran.

In a statement, the Israeli Army reported that Chief General Ayal Zamir made these comments during a security review at the Northern Command on Sunday.

Zamir emphasized that the Israeli Army is “ready to immediately and extensively resume military operations.” He mentioned that the army’s goal is to further weaken Iran’s capabilities. He also assured that the military will maintain readiness and flexibility as needed.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, this statement coincides with ongoing discussions aimed at extending the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, differences remain between the two countries regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

Amid these developments, a meeting of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet is also expected to take place on Sunday evening.

General Zamir also noted that the Israeli Army is continuously taking action against Hezbollah in Lebanon. He stated that the military is targeting Hezbollah at all levels.

A ceasefire was declared between Israel and Lebanon in April, yet the Israeli Army has not completely withdrawn from southern Lebanon. Israel claims it conducts daily attacks targeting Hezbollah’s positions and fighters.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on Sunday that he and U.S. President Donald Trump agree that any final deal with Iran must completely eliminate the nuclear threat.

Netanyahu expressed gratitude on social media platform X for Trump’s “unwavering commitment” to Israel’s security. He mentioned that during operations like “Operation Roaring Lion” and “Epic Fury,” U.S. and Israeli forces have confronted the Iranian threat together.

He reiterated that both he and Trump believe that any final agreement with Iran should fully eradicate its nuclear threat, which includes shutting down Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities and removing enriched nuclear material from the country.
