Israel Strikes Irans Nuclear Facility Amid Escalating Tensions

Tel Aviv, March 12: Tensions in the Middle East are escalating. On the 13th day of the ongoing crisis, Israel has claimed that its air force targeted another nuclear project in Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported an attack on the Taleghan site.

In a post on the X platform, the IDF asserted that its air force struck a significant facility linked to Iran’s nuclear program. This attack occurred at the Taleghan site, located southeast of Tehran, near the Parchin military complex.

According to the IDF, fighter jets targeted this complex, which was allegedly being used to advance Iran’s nuclear weapon capabilities. It was claimed that this site had also been targeted in October 2024, and Iran had recently attempted to reactivate it.

However, this claim has not been independently verified.

As reported by Reuters, Taleghan is situated about 30 kilometers (19 miles) southeast of Tehran. Since the airstrike on Iran, former U.S. President Donald Trump has consistently stated that one of the objectives of their military actions was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran has long insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. However, in 2002, the discovery of two sites involved in uranium enrichment and heavy water plutonium production raised suspicions.

The Israeli military stated that IDF intelligence had determined that the Taleghan compound was being utilized by Tehran for weapon development and testing as part of the “Amad” project, which aimed to create nuclear weapons. This project is believed to have been terminated in 2003.

Last week, the Israeli military announced that it had also attacked another Iranian nuclear site, Minzadehian, where it claimed scientists were secretly producing essential components for nuclear weapons.
