Washington, August 4 (H.S.) – The United States and Israel are preparing to issue a strong warning to Hamas in a renewed effort to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the ongoing conflict. According to Steve Witkoff, the Middle East envoy under former President Donald J. Trump, if Hamas does not cooperate, Israel will intensify its military operations.

As reported by The New York Times, during a weekend meeting with the families of hostages, Witkoff indicated that both nations are now leaning toward a decisive approach. Negotiations around a ceasefire and the release of hostages have remained deadlocked for months, prompting both American and Israeli officials to consider a tougher stance.
“We believe that every hostage will return home,” Witkoff stated.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump are working on an agreement that will warn Hamas to release the remaining hostages and agree to terms that disarm the group. If not, Israel will launch an even more aggressive military campaign,” he added.
No Agreement Yet, Says Hamas
According to The New York Times, Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi said the group has not yet received any formal proposal for a broader deal. While Hamas is open to negotiations in principle, it will not accept disarmament under any circumstances.

This development comes at a time when the Israeli government is under international scrutiny over alleged famine conditions in Gaza, while domestic pressure continues to mount for the safe return of hostages.
New Hostage Video Raises Concerns
On Friday, Hamas released a video showing Evyatar David, one of the 20 hostages believed to be alive, according to Israeli authorities. The video depicts David in serious condition inside what appears to be an underground tunnel, heightening concerns in both Israel and the United States about the hostages’ safety and health.
The joint warning strategy by the US and Israel could mark a turning point in the negotiations, putting added pressure on Hamas to agree to a deal or face escalated military retaliation.
