Ishan Kishan Emphasizes Teamwork and Adaptability in T20 Cricket

New Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Ishan Kishan, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman, underscored the importance of teamwork and adaptability in international cricket after India’s convincing seven-wicket win against Afghanistan on Sunday. The match, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium, showcased Kishan’s performance, where he scored 42 runs and formed a formidable partnership of 121 runs with Abhishek Sharma, who made an impressive 82.

In a video posted on BCCI’s official platform, Kishan remarked, “As professionals, we need to adapt quickly when changes occur. We often return to different formats, and sometimes it takes a bit of time to sync with the game. However, it is crucial to remain calm and composed on the field to perform at our best.”

Reflecting on his partnership with Sharma, Kishan noted, “I approached my innings like an ODI because Abhishek was playing so well. I wanted him to maintain his momentum and not worry about wickets falling at the other end. It’s about understanding the situation continuously. If I felt Abhishek was out of rhythm, I would step up. Teamwork is vital, and while adapting to the T20 atmosphere can be challenging initially, we strive to give our best and learn from our mistakes.”

Beyond strategic flexibility, Kishan highlighted the significance of preparation off the field, which includes analyzing videos of opposing bowlers and informal discussions with teammates to address weaknesses. “I watch videos of the bowlers I’ll face and any plans they might have. It’s essential to be in the right mindset. Sometimes, while relaxing with friends, we discuss how I can improve and which shots to play. Ultimately, it’s about focusing on the ball and executing my shots rather than overthinking,” he explained.

Ahead of India’s next match, Kishan shared his straightforward recovery routine, stating, “I’ll just rest and not do much. Before the next game, I’ll have a solid workout session. Honestly, I might not leave my bed for two days because I’m quite exhausted. I’m going to sleep.”

Kishan’s insights reflect the mindset needed to excel in the fast-paced world of T20 cricket, emphasizing that both mental and physical preparation are key to success.
