Irans Speaker Warns of Potential Enemy Occupation on Strategic Island

Tehran, March 26: Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has raised alarms about potential plans by an “enemy,” supported by a regional country, to occupy an Iranian island.

In a post on the social media platform X, Qalibaf stated, “If they take even one step further, all critical infrastructure of that regional country will be subjected to continuous attacks from Iran without any hesitation.”

Earlier in the day, Qalibaf emphasized that Iran is closely monitoring all U.S. activities in the region, particularly the deployment of American troops. He remarked, “What generals have broken cannot be fixed by soldiers; they will merely fall victim to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s delusions,” warning against testing Iran’s resolve to defend its territory.

Qalibaf’s comments come amid reports that the Pentagon is preparing to deploy thousands of soldiers from the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the U.S. has announced it is intensifying efforts to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz and stabilize global oil supplies as its military campaign against Iran continues. The White House stated that the focus of the operation is to protect critical energy routes vital to the global economy.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt told reporters that U.S. forces are targeting Iran’s capabilities that threaten shipping through this strategic waterway, which is crucial for global energy supplies. She added, “Our military is fully focused on eliminating the threats to the free flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz.”

As part of these efforts, U.S. forces have attacked Iranian military structures in coastal areas of the strait.

On February 28, Israel and the U.S. conducted joint strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran launched a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.
