Tehran, April 2: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the Iranian people harbor no animosity towards the American public. He accused the U.S. administration of acting as a proxy for Israel in its actions against Iran.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, these remarks were made in a letter directed at the American public, where Pezeshkian elaborated on Iran’s stance regarding the ongoing conflict with the U.S. and Israel.
Pezeshkian emphasized, “The Iranian people do not hold hostility towards any nation, including those in America, Europe, or neighboring countries.” He noted that despite facing foreign interventions and pressures throughout its glorious history, Iranians have always distinguished between governments and their people.
He asserted that Iran has never chosen a path of aggression, expansionism, colonialism, or dominance in its modern history, even while facing occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers.
Pezeshkian described the portrayal of Iran as a threat as a narrative crafted by Israel, aimed at diverting global attention from its crimes against the Palestinians.
He referenced the U.S. military buildup and bases surrounding Iran, stating that the American “aggressions” originating from these bases illustrate the dangers of such military presence.
In response to threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding large-scale attacks on Iran’s energy facilities, Pezeshkian remarked that assaults on critical infrastructure directly target the Iranian populace. He emphasized that such actions constitute “war crimes” with repercussions extending beyond Iran’s borders.
Pezeshkian accused the U.S. of engaging in war against Iran as a proxy for Israel, alleging that Israel seeks to fight Iran at the expense of “every last American soldier and taxpayer’s money” for its “illegitimate interests.”
He questioned, “Is ‘America First’ truly among the priorities of the current U.S. government?” He stated that the world stands at a crossroads, needing to choose between confrontation and dialogue.
On February 28, Israel and the U.S. conducted joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of senior military commanders and civilians, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and U.S. assets in the Middle East.
