Iran Responds to Trumps Nuclear Threat with Sarcasm

New Delhi, May 9: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, has sharply responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s nuclear threat. Baghaei mocked Trump’s statements on social media, where the President warned of a “big flash” if a deal is not reached and tensions escalate.

In a post on the social media platform X, Baghaei stated, “It is strange that they want peace and to prevent a nuclear crisis, yet their proposed solution is a ‘big flash.'” He accompanied his post with a clip from Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 film, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

Trump had previously remarked during a media interaction, “If there is no ceasefire, you won’t know. You will just see a big flash coming from Iran.” This comment has been interpreted as a nuclear threat. He issued an ultimatum, stating, “They should sign the agreement quickly. If they do not sign, they will face severe consequences.”

In related news, Iran’s Central Insurance has announced that payments will soon be made for vehicles damaged in the conflict with the U.S. and Israel. Officials from the Central Insurance Company and Iran Insurance estimate that around 30,000 cars have been affected.

Authorities reported that payments for damages amounting to less than 30 million tomans (approximately $387) have been processed in recent weeks, with plans to address larger claims shortly.

Trump expressed hope that Iran would respond to the proposal sent by the U.S. later tonight. Before boarding Marine One on the White House South Lawn, he told the media, “I expect to receive a letter tonight. Let’s see what happens.”

When asked if Tehran is deliberately slowing down the process, he replied, “We will know soon.” The President indicated that if negotiations stall, Washington may adopt a tougher stance, saying, “If everything does not go well, we will take another route. If things do not happen, we may revert to Project Freedom, but it will be Project Freedom Plus, meaning there will be additional elements involved.”
