Tehran, June 2: Iran has successfully neutralized explosives in Isfahan that failed to detonate during recent US-Israel attacks. This action aims to prevent any potential explosions in the region.
According to Mehr News Agency, the explosive materials were discovered in an area previously targeted by military strikes. Officials reported that these remnants were destroyed in a controlled manner to avoid any accidents or damage.
During the operation, explosions were heard in the vicinity. Authorities reassured the public that there was no need for alarm, clarifying that the sounds were due to planned and controlled detonations. Citizens were urged to disregard rumors and continue their normal activities.
Meanwhile, Iran announced it is strengthening security measures in sensitive areas, especially as regional tensions continue to rise. The Isfahan region has previously been a focal point for military and strategic attacks.
Isfahan, the country’s third-largest city after Tehran and Mashhad, is considered an important industrial and military hub. It houses several key facilities related to missile and defense production. In addition to its strategic significance, Isfahan is culturally rich.
Surrounding the city are numerous sensitive installations, including a nuclear research center, missile production facilities, a major oil refinery, and air force bases.
Recently, during a 40-day conflict, US-Israel forces targeted this city multiple times. On the 32nd day (March 31), the US attacked a nuclear facility in Isfahan with 2,000-pound bunker buster bombs. Following the strike, the sky was filled with smoke throughout the night. In June 2025, US forces also dropped bombs in the area, where there are concerns about Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium.
