New Delhi, March 21: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has escalated its attacks against the United States and Israel in the Gulf region and beyond. According to the IRGC, over 55 locations were targeted in the 70th round of retaliatory strikes against the US-Israel alliance.
As reported by Iran’s Press TV, the latest wave of attacks resulted in loud explosions, fireballs, and plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas.
Several Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Israel, have announced the deployment of air defense systems to counter drone and missile attacks that occurred early Saturday morning.
Additionally, Hezbollah claimed to have launched 55 separate attacks on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a single day, both in Lebanon and northern Israel. This marks the highest number of attacks Hezbollah has conducted against Israel in one day. In response, the Israeli Defense Forces have also intensified their strikes in various parts of Lebanon.
On the other hand, US media outlet CNN reported, citing its investigations, that the US and Israel have completely destroyed access routes to Iranian underground complexes. The report indicated that efforts were made to neutralize Iranian missile launchers and other weapons by bombing the entrances of these subterranean facilities.
CNN analyzed satellite images of 32 Iranian missile bases, most of which are located within mountains, and found that all had been subjected to airstrikes. These attacks typically targeted tunnel entrances, surface buildings, or road junctions. The analysis revealed that at least 77% of 107 tunnel entrances had been bombed.
Furthermore, satellite imagery showed at least 15 missile launchers at these bases appeared to be damaged. Experts cited by US media suggested that the intensified air campaign by the US and Israel aims to shut down underground tunnels where Iran had planned to safely reload missile launchers for potential strikes against US positions and allies in the Middle East.
Since the onset of the conflict, there has been a reported decline of over 90% in Iran’s missile and drone launches. However, US experts have warned that Iran remains capable of launching attacks on strategic targets, such as vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
