Tim Cook Meets with Chinese Commerce Minister to Discuss Economic Relations

Beijing, March 21: Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Apple CEO Tim Cook on March 20 to discuss the economic and trade relations between China and the United States, as well as Apple’s business development in China and other key issues.

Wang Wentao emphasized that under the diplomatic strategies of the leaders of both nations, there have been six rounds of talks and consultations between the economic and trade teams of China and the U.S., resulting in several important agreements. He highlighted that a healthy, stable, and sustainable economic and trade relationship between China and the U.S. is crucial not only for both countries but also for the stability and growth of the global economy.

During the meeting, Tim Cook stated that China remains Apple’s most significant production hub and a key source of supply chain resources. He noted that Apple’s ongoing efforts in innovation collaboration, green development, and strengthening the supply chain align with China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Cook expressed hope that the economic and trade relations between the U.S. and China will continue to progress in a stable and positive direction.

On the same day, Ren Hongbin, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, held separate meetings with Tim Cook and Wu Sipo, President and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing Enterprises Association, in Beijing. These discussions focused on enhancing exchanges between the business communities of China and the U.S., increasing participation in APEC trade activities in 2026, and deepening cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and medicine.
